Cottage cheese strengthens your bones

There is no doubt that cottage cheese contains lots of calcium. This trace element is particularly necessary for women who have active lifestyle and for those who work out. Our bone strength depends on calcium. Also calcium protects against osteoporosis.

Cottage cheese is rich in proteins, lactic acid, phosphorus, minerals that not only strengthen bones and teeth but also regulates metabolism and strengthens nervous system. However, cottage cheese is not a really light food even though many people think so. Proteins that we get with cottage cheese are not that easy to digest. Besides, if you eat too much of it, it can aggravate you liver function and promote atherosclerosis. If you want your body to get all useful substances from cottage cheese without complicating your digestion, you should eat not more than 200 grams of cottage cheese per day.

According to food combining theory, cottage cheese is perfect to combine with non-starchy vegetables (cucumbers, white cabbage, radishes, sweet peppers, asparagus, onions, garlic, pumpkin), sweet fruits (pears, melons, sweet apples), berries and nuts. Talking about spices, cottage cheese is great with cumin, paprika, pepper, sage, onion, mustard, as well as vanilla, cinnamon and honey. Some of these products prevent good absorption of calcium. If you want to get the most of eating cottage cheese, do not drink coffee, chocolate, alcohol, fats and sugar with it.
