Mono diets are diets based on a single product. Do they help to fight against obesity and escape from diseases? Why many people like them so much and believe in them? And why nutritionists are so skeptical about them?
The most delicious mono diets are chocolate, pineapple, watermelon, banana and grapefruit. Women just love them. There are also potatoes, buckwheat, rice and oats diets which are a bit easier to follow but they are not as delious as the one mentioned before.
The main principle of mono diet is to choose one product that you like. You don’t have to count calories and most importantly, you practically don’t have to cook. Besides, mono diets promise great results. You can lose from 3 to 6 kilograms per week. These diets are often chosen one week before holidays or some important occasion.
However, nutritionists are not that excited about this kind of diets. Most of them say that there is no such indication of following any diet unless when you have a disease, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, gout, etc. Then diet is necessary. However, in order to lose, gain or maintain your weight, diets are not needed. Whether its mono diet or poli diet it’s a temporary diet and it can be used just for a certain period of time. Mono diet is completely unbalanced because single product cannot balance anything. One product have one nutrients, the other – others. That’s why we are eating various products.
Do you think mono diet can normalize metabolism? Unfortunately, it does not. Metabolism can be speeded up by physical activity.
