Healthy foods that may become dangerous

Probably no one will argue against the fact that if we are concerned about our health we must carefully choose the products for eating. Besides, it’s widely known that those who love nourishing meals and cannot stop themselves from overeating increase the risk of various diseases. However, though we are advised by nutritionists every day to choose ‘useful’ products and avoid the ‘harmful’ ones, is it really all recommended products do not pose any danger for our health?

Green tea

Green tea is a very useful product that contains antioxidants protecting the cells against free radicals. To notice the beneficial effect of this tea, dieticians recommend drinking approximately 6-10 cups a day. However, we cannot call green tea an excellent product – after the researches made in University of Murcia (Spain) it has been revealed the fact that green tea stops our body from absorbing folic acid, essential for a normal development. That means that this product can surprisingly increase the risk of congenital defects if this tea is used during the pregnancy period. Moreover, researchers of the New Jersey University found out that a large dose of green tea can cause liver and kidney diseases.

Fish

Marine fish, which is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids omega-3, iodine and manganese, has been recommended for patients for more than twenty years. This product is known to be slowing down the development of atherosclerosis, lowering cholesterol level and reducing the risk of heart attack. In addition, nutritionists recommend eating fish at least once a week or taking fish oil capsules. However, together with oceans that have become highly contaminated, fish was also enriched with mercury which is a real poison for our body. If we overdose this material, it may cause serious troubles.

Olive oil

Olive oil contains antioxidants that help to reduce cholesterol level and protect our brain from atherosclerosis. Cold-pressed, virgin oil has been admitted as the most useful for our health, however, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the tablespoon of olive oil contains as much calories as the tablespoon of butter, so you can easily gain some weight. In addition, olive oil is not so easy to choose – obtained by heating the remains of olives, this olive oil is not recommended because it contains harmful carcinogenic substances.

Grapes

A great quantity of antioxidants and polyphenols in grapes will improve the composition of the blood and will increase hemoglobin’s level. Grapes also have a positive effect on heart functions and will protect our blood against thrombus formation. However, polyphenols and tannins that are in red grapes can cause migraine, which is very hard to escape. Make sure that you wash them properly as well – dangerous materials that may remain on the skin, such as yeast, pesticides and others can harm your health.
