Hearing loss

Hearing loss may have serious consequences – it may result in avoiding to talk with others, bringing a sense of fear, lead to social isolation, loss of confidence, self-esteem, and depression. Research shows that one in two people over 65 years old have hearing problems. The most common disorder of hearing is the death of the ear nerve, leading to hearing loss, especially in the high-frequency sounds. Hearing problems caused by aging processes may start for the people of 30 years old.

According to researchers, it is difficult to say what exactly influences hearing loss. Some of them believe that this may be contributed by the damage of free radicals. Hearing loss can also be initiated by ear infections, loud noises, brain tumors, various antibiotics, rubella, and mumps. One of the most common causes of hearing loss is excessive accumulation of ear wax content.

The treatment of hearing loss should start with a research which should help to find a cause of hearing loss. If the cause is simple, such as clogged ear canal, it will need only to clean it. However, when the cause of hearing loss is removed but the problem persists, there should be used special hearing aids. It was found that such measures are effective for 95% of people.

Other natural ways to get rid of hearing loss:

Alpha lipoic acid and vitamin E helps to protect the ears against free radicals’ damage. Alpha lipoic acid is the antioxidant that protects the nerves of the ear. Some researches have showed that alpha lipoic acid may also reduce the risk of hearing loss caused by antibiotics and other drugs.

Glutathione is another effective antioxidant that may be useful to your hearing. The amount of this substance in the brain decreases with age. It has been shown that supplementing your body with this antioxidant can prevent hearing loss and minimize the damage to the auditory centers of the brain.

Ginkgo biloba extract helps to reduce ‘ringing’ in the ears, which may be associated with hearing loss. Over 27 years, various studies have shown that Ginkgo biloba extract reduces symptoms of tinnitus, which could develop into more serious disorders and even deafness.
