How to overcome insomnia?

Deep sleep is a source of higher productivity and energy. It also improves your heart function and immune system. Good Sleep even improves your mood and prolongs life. So What to do if you cannot fall asleep? Here a some tips how to make your sleep better:

1. Follow the same bedtime routine.

Go to bed and get up at the same time, even on weekends. Regular sleep hels t maintain a steady rhythm of your biological clock, so you can rest better. Regular alternation of light and drakness is also beneficial. So as soon as ou wake up, just open the curtains and go out into the day of light.

2. Stop smoking.

Nicotine is a stimulant so it doen’t help you to fall asleep. In addition, many smokers feel a sharp pain at night. Studies have shown that smokers tend to feel 4 times less relaxed than those who don’t smoke. SMoking also contributes to worse breating and other respiratory problems which are far aways from good rest at night.

3. Have a look at the medications you are taking.

Beta-blockers (used for high blood pressure) can cause insomnia. THis can also happen because of antidepressants. Talk to your doctor about medications you are taking and how it affects your sleep.

4. Do not exercise before going to bed.

Exercising, especially cardio, affects your sleep quality and duration. 30 minutes of active aerobics raise your body temperature which doen’t allow you to sleep for at least 4 hours.

5. After 2 p.m. stop using caffeine.

This means that you cannot drink coffee, tea or cola. Caffeine is a stimulant which stays in your body for 8 hours.If you have a cup of coffee after dinner, you won’t be ready to sleep on time.

6. Make sure you sleep in a dark room.

Light is a powerful signal that makes your brain vigilant. Even a small light coming from your laptop or mobile phone can interfere your sleep. The darker our room is the better sleep you will have.
