What to eat on hot day?

When weather becomes hot, our body starts losing lots of fluids. That’s why doctors recommend keep drinking in order to guarantee the fluid reserves in the same level. To kill the thirst, you should choose water or unsweetened green tea every 40-50 minutes. Besides, during the hot days you should don’t forget to start eating cold soups, like gaspacho, that more than ever will improve your health (there are plenty of tomatoes) but will also help you to maintain body’s fluid reserves.

According to doctors, energy demand during the hot days decreases by 5 percent what means that our body needs fewer calories. To protect the body against heat and its damage, it’s recommended to avoid roasted meat, fat sweets, pancakes and salty snacks. Instead of eating these unhealthy foods, your menu should include more vegetables, fruits and dairy products.

When the weather is hot, nutrition experts recommend following such ration:

• 28 % of fat (2/3 of them should be vegetable fats);
• 55 % of proteins (also most of them should be vegetable origin);
• 17 % of carbohydrates.

Keep in mind that it’s normal to complain about the lack of appetite or metabolism slow down because heat is a real challenge for human’s body. In order to feel better, nutritionists recommend changing the time of your meals. For example, you should try to eat when the weather is not so hot, early in the morning or later in the evening.
