Liver is involved in metabolism, digestion and blood-forming process of protein, fat, carbohydrates, and other substances. It produces bile, detoxifies and protects the energy that is needed for muscle and brain. Drugs, alcohol and diseases can damage this vital organ, so prevention of liver injury is very important.
Let your liver rest. Proper diet is the most important prevention of liver diseases. So let your liver rest sometimes: completely refuse eating animal fat and eat more foods rich in protein and vitamins (lean cottage cheese, vegetables and fruits). Early spring greens are rich in vitamin C and other vitamins. So it is very useful to add them to every dish.
Live healthy (Eat properly and be physically active). Liver needs to get protein, fat and carbohydrates. Strict dieting, fasting, as well as binge eating, spicy, fried and fatty foods are very harmful for your liver. Vegetarian food is great for the liver. However, vegetarians often forget to eat protein, such as nuts, beans, peas, etc. Eat fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes dishes every day. Fish or lean meat is also a great source of protein.
Limit the quantity alcohol. Alcohol can damage liver cells and destroy them.
Do not abuse medications. Over-dosing, unsuitable medications or interactions with other medicines can damage liver. In all cases, you should use the lowest effective doses of medications. Always consult with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medications.
