5 myths about your teeth

1. It is necessary to change your toothbrush often, but not your toothpaste. Not really. It is recommended to change not only your toothbrush (every 2-3 months). Specialists recommend changing your toothpaste too. All toothpastes differ a little bit in their compositions and our teeth as well as oral membranes require all those different materials.

2. Toothbrush and toothpaste can be replaced with mouthwashes. Mouthwashes are additional mean for oral hygiene. It is recommended to use is after brushing your teeth with toothpaste.

3. If your parents and grandparents have good and strong teeth, it means that you will have the same even without taking care of them very well. There are people that have really good teeth when they get old even if they didn’t brush them carefully every day. That’s heredity. However if one of the parent has really good teeth it doesn’t mean that a kid will have the same good teeth.

4. Toothbrush is not only used to brush your teeth, but to clean your tongue as well. That’s true. Nowadays you can even find special brushes to clean your tongue. When you brush your teeth, you should clean your tongue surface too as that is the place for bacteria to accumulate.

5. If a person has a bed breath it means he doesn’t brush his teeth. Not necessarily. Bad breath canappear for different reasons: damaged teeth, poor diet habits, mouth inflammation, problems with stomach, etc.
