Anemia

When even after no activity done the person starts feeling tired, weak, unfocused, he suffers from hair loss, pale skin, taste changes, doctors suspects anemia. This disease which affects one of five middle aged women can easily be detected with a help of blood test, so don’t waste your time if you feel the same symptoms.

Anemia is the decrease of red blood cells (erythrocytes). The main function of red blood cells is to carry oxygen, so when their quantity decreases, less oxygen is transferred for the whole body. As a result, human starts suffering from brain, heart or muscles pain, skin, mucous membranes become pale, heart starts beating heavily because it has to transport several times more blood through all human’s body. In addition, anemia also affects digestive tract, so patient loses his appetite, women forget about menstruation.

The decrease of red blood cells appears for various reasons: children start suffering from anemia because of bad nutrition, infectious diseases, intestinal worms (roundworms or other), women – for gynecological diseases, cyclical bleeding, pregnancy, breast feeding or even the cancer. Keep in mind, if untreated, anemia can be fatal!

In order to prevent anemia, you must eat foods that are rich in iron. You should always include into your diet meat (veal, liver, tongue, beef, chicken), fish, beets, beans, green peas, red cabbage, horseradish, nettle, beet leaves, mushrooms, egg yolks, oatmeal, dried fruit, walnuts, cranberries, black currants, plums, grenades, strawberries, grapes, carrots, tomatoes. Even dark chocolate has a little iron! To prevent anemia, you should also start using vitamin B12, folic acid, so eat liver, kidney, eggs, fish, courgettes and lemons. To get the folic acid don’t forget eating spinach, cauliflower and lettuce.
