6 habits that will help to improve digestion

We all know that a glass of room temperature water with a slice of lemon.  However, there are plenty of other ways how to help your digestive tract. Here are 6 habits that you should know about.

  1. Do not eat in a rush. You must chew your food well. This will also help you to eat much less. Besides, chewing burns more calories than swallowing. Do not forget that if you chew slowly, your mouth will produce more saliva which helps to moisten your food and speed up digestion.
  2. People who like to eat a lot may have their stomachs stretched up to 5-6 liters instead of 2.  Such binge eating causes many stomach problems and disturbs your digestion. It is very important to maintain normal functioning of digestive tract and eat in small portions, 4-7 times per day.
  3. You should drink 2-3 liters of water per day, including soups, juicy fruits and vegetables. You can drink a glass of water 20-30 minutes before each meal in order to improve digestion. However, you should not drink after eating as water will slow down digestive processes.
  4. Include grains, fruits and vegetables to your menu. They contain lots of fiber which removes toxins from your body.
  5. Maintain good level of beneficial bacteria that protect against infections.
  6. Avoid stress. In this case exercising can work a lot. It strengthens your body and makes you feel much better.
