Factors that determine obesity

The most recent data shows that 34 percent of American population is obese. Over the past 30 years this number increased in 100 percent. However, people often don’t know the real factors that determine their body to gain weight.

1. Black people are more prone to obesity in 53.7 percent.

2. Spanish are more prone to obesity in 45.8 percent.

3. Married people are more prone to obesity in 20.2 percent. Marriage increases that probability of gaining weight ad partners are less interested to attract opposite sex.

4. Unemployed people are more prone to obesity in 36.8 percent.

5. Women are more prone to obesity in 19.2 percent. This concept applies worldwide. World Health Organization found that there are 10 percent of obese men and 14 percent of obese women all over the world.

6. People who have a job that requires physical power are more prone to obese in 13.5 percent. Meanwhile, people who work something related to athletics are less prone to obesity in 11 percent.

7. Non-smoking people are more prone to obesity in 7.8 percent. Smoking changes homeostasis of insulin, activity of lipoprotein lipase and sympathetic nervous system. Physical activity influence food intake which leads to weight changes.

8. People with high school education are more prone to obesity in 6.6 percent.

9. People working in food industry are more prone to obesity in 4.6 percent.

10. People with average income are more prone to obesity in 1.2 percent. People with higher income can afford buying healthy foods and this way control their diet.

11. People from small towns or villages are more prone to obesity in 1.1 percent. People who live in isolated areas burn less calories.
